Oral Hygiene: How to Have an Effective Tooth-Brushing Technique

jeff.gosling@cdp.dentalUncategorized

Brushing your teeth is an important part of your oral hygiene routine, so it’s best to have an effective technique and the proper tools. To help you, our Hill Country Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics team has some recommendations for you. Those recommendations are:

-Brush your teeth twice each day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. The soft bristles will deeply clean your smile while caring for your gums. We also recommend using a brush that fits perfectly in your mouth and one that has a non-slip grip. That way you can reach all areas of your mouth easily.

-Make sure to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months or once your toothbrush bristles have frayed. A worn-out toothbrush will not effectively clean your teeth and gums, which will increase your chances of having tooth decay and gum disease.

-As you brush, use fluoride toothpaste that has been approved by the American Dental Association. The fluoride will strengthen your tooth enamel and give it the ability to fight harmful particles, and the Seal of Acceptance will help you know you have a safe and effective product.
